What happens to Europe in the next 25 years? A fictional, purely imagined scenario, told without words by countryballs on the map.
2027: an armistice freezes the war in Ukraine. 2028: the USA leaves NATO and Europe is on its own. A rearmed Russia strikes the Baltics, a nuclear “warning shot” lights up the Baltic Sea, and the front rolls back to the Dnieper. A pandemic breaks the European Union apart: Scotland leaves, Ireland unites, Belgium is split, Catalonia breaks away, Italy divides into North and South.
Then the tables turn. Poland builds its own bomb and forms the Intermarium, Russia falls into civil war, and Ukraine takes back everything it lost. But a new power rises in the south: Turkey takes Cyprus, Thessaloniki and Athens, while Serbia grabs the Western Balkans. In 2047 a new Congress of Vienna redraws the map — and Europe in 2050 is three armed blocs where nobody trusts anybody.
