Ep. 19 | The Church is the People...So Why Do We Need the Organization?

We often say, “The church is the people”—and that’s true. But if the church is a living body united to Christ, why does church life involve budgets, schedules, meetings, volunteers, policies, and programs? In this episode, Eric explores the relationship between the church as an organism and the church as an *organization*. Drawing from Nehemiah 3 and Ephesians 4, he considers two opposite dangers: allowing the organization to become more important than the people it serves, or valuing community while resisting the commitment and responsibility that make real community possible. The organization is never the point. Jesus is the point. But when structures, leadership, and shared responsibility serve the body well, they can become practical expressions of Christian love. What has Christ put in front of you—and what might it look like to faithfully take your place?
