Released by Bally in May 1985, Cybernaut is a sci-fi themed pinball machine that captures the transition between the classic solid-state era and the more complex games of the late 80s. Designed by Jim Patla with art by Greg Freres, the game features a distinct "futuristic laboratory" aesthetic and is centered around a unique circular ramp and a challenging "U-turn" shot. The gameplay focuses on advancing the "Energy Level" and completing target banks to light the "Cybernaut" letters for high-scoring bonuses and multipliers. Originally conceived as a sequel to Centaur (under the name Centaur II), it was ultimately rebranded, resulting in a relatively rare production run of only about 900 units, making it a sought-after piece for collectors of mid-80s Bally titles.
