Windlass Victorian Sword Cane: Pretty, but is it practical today?

Pure nostalgia on my part, I admit, as this is a significantly improved version of a cheap India sword cane I had over 40 years ago, but is it actually useful or more trouble than it's worth in today's world? And are there better options practically speaking? (I know I'm going to disappoint a lot of sword cane fans out there.) And would you like more martial cane content?
