In September 2026, a TikTok creator went viral claiming she had cracked the world's most mysterious book: the Voynich Manuscript, which she argues is a hidden record of women's health, written by women in an invented script. According to the puzzle site PuzzCulture, she admits she has never decoded the text. The book is real. It sits at Yale's Beinecke Library as MS 408, its parchment carbon-dated to 1404-1438, and no one has ever shown that they can read it.

This is the full documented story, with claims kept separate from evidence: the vellum and the glyphs, the 1665 letter from Prague to Athanasius Kircher, the Rudolf II story, the book's years with the Jesuits, Wilfrid Voynich's purchase around 1912, Newbold's 1921 "solution," the Friedmans and the wartime codebreakers, the claimed decipherments of 2014 to 2019, the 2024 multispectral images of the first page, and what the TikTok theory does and does not show.
