M340i vs. The Mountains: A POV driving test

What does the BMW M340i feel like when you take the B58 into the mountains? Another early morning run through the beautiful mountain roads of Genting Highlands, Malaysia, and this time the objective was simple — enjoy the drive, stay sharp and see how the M340i performs while trying to keep pace with some seriously quick cars. Up ahead was one of the fastest BMW M340i we've driven with, together with the familiar Red Supra. With both cars powered by the legendary B58 platform, there was definitely no shortage of performance in the group. Traffic was heavier than expected during this run, so instead of forcing the pace, we backed off when necessary, maintained a safe distance and drove according to the road conditions. Mountain driving isn't only about speed — reading the road, anticipating traffic and knowing when not to push are equally important. Unfortunately, my camera mount decided it had other plans. It became loose during the drive, so the POV angle isn't quite as stable or immersive as I wanted it to be. Still, there were too many memorable moments from this morning not to share. And Genting being Genting, you never know what you're going to encounter. During the drive, we unexpectedly came across a Porsche 911 GT3 and a Toyota 86, both enjoying the mountain at their own pace. No competition, no need to prove anything — just different enthusiasts sharing the same beautiful roads on a Saturday morning.
