For far too long, people in the church have been made to believe that because they don't carry the title of Pastor, Bishop, Elder, Prophet, or church leader, they don't have the authority to speak up when they see something wrong.
I disagree.
Too many things have been swept under the rug because people were afraid to question leadership. We've watched wrongdoing, manipulation, abuse of authority, and other serious issues go unaddressed while members were told to remain silent, “touch not God's anointed,” or simply trust leadership.
Speaking up doesn't automatically mean you're rebellious, disrespectful, attacking the church, or trying to take authority over a pastor. Sometimes speaking up means you actually care about the church enough to refuse to ignore what's hurting it.
Galatians 6:1 — Restore someone who is overtaken in a fault in a spirit of meekness.
Matthew 18:15–17 — Jesus gives a process for confronting wrongdoing.
1 Timothy 5:19–20 — Even elders are not beyond accountability; when the biblical standard is met, persistent sin is to be addressed.
