2026-08-29 Vodárenská nádrž Římov    • 2026-08-29 Vodárenská nádrž Římov. Water s...   Stav vody v nádrži Římov: https://www.pvl.cz/portal/Nadrze/cz/p... ------------------- In this video, we’ll take a look at what it was like at the Římov water supply reservoir on October 9th. The previous video was shot on August 29th, so almost exactly 40 days ago. As usual, I’m including a link to it in the description below this video. At the start of the video, I’ve included a longer clip of the meandering Malše River from the ruins of Pořešín Castle, so you can see how beautifully the river winds through the landscape before it reaches the beginning of the Římov reservoir. The dense forest along the river, which lines the surroundings of these meanders, certainly has a positive effect on the water quality in the reservoir. If we compare the previous video with this one, everyone will surely notice one very noticeable difference. While at the end of August roughly the first half of the water surface from the beginning of the reservoir was quite green due to photosynthesizing organisms, in this video the color of the water surface reflecting the blue sky dominates. In terms of water quality in a drinking water reservoir, this is certainly a good sign, but it only assesses the water in its very top layer. The advantage of relatively deep reservoirs, like Římov for example, is that raw water for drinking water treatment is taken from deeper layers, where the water quality is best. Water from the surface layers is never used for drinking water treatment. If you look at the data from the Povodí Vltavy company at the link, which I also put in the video description, the water level in the reservoir is still slowly but steadily falling. Since the last video at the end of August, the drop is about 1 meter. So we can hope that the reservoir's storage volume will provide enough water for roughly 300,000 supplied residents and that the reservoir will fill up soon. When it rains, we should be happy and not be upset about bad weather. And we should also remind ourselves that the Plav drinking water treatment plant is now supplying consumers with more drinking water than the Malše River is feeding in. Without the Římov Reservoir, that wouldn’t be possible. I wish you an enjoyable watch and look forward to seeing you in another video.
