The goal of our channel is to help you master Latvian using Professor Krashen's Comprehensible Input (CI) method, also known as the “natural language acquisition method.” The essence of the method is to perceive the language through reading and listening to materials where some of the words and constructions are already familiar to you, and some are new. The new material is gradually absorbed without rote learning and memorizing rules (although you will still have to devote some time to grammar). 😊 How our videos are structured: The first part consists of stories in Latvian with text and illustrations, adapted for different levels. The second part features the same stories with English translations. How to work with the videos for best results: Step 1. Watch and listen to the first part. Try to understand the meaning of new words from the context. You can pause and write down useful words with your own (presumed) translation — without referring to the second part yet. Step 2. Move on to the second part with the translation. Compare it with your notes, clarify any unclear points, and correct the translations if necessary. Step 3. Turn on the first part again. After each sentence, pause and repeat aloud, focusing on pronunciation and intonation. Step 4. After 1–2 days, look at the English translation in the second part, turning off the sound and without checking the Latvian original. Translate from English to Latvian in your head or aloud, checking the original and your notes if necessary. Step 5. Reread your list of words from time to time — without drudgery! The main and most enjoyable thing: Don't try to remember everything at once. If something slips your mind, that's normal. The CI method works gradually, on a subconscious level. The brain needs time to “put everything in its place.” The main thing is regularity. It's better to study for 15–20 minutes every day than for long periods with long breaks in between. Why we created this channel: The CI method is already actively used for learning popular languages such as English, Spanish, German, etc. However, there is almost no suitable content for Latvian. We encountered this problem ourselves and decided to fix it.
