He Lost Nearly $1M Building Africa's CNN. He Has No Regrets | Jermaine Nkrumah

In 2002, Jermaine Nkrumah sat down with the Ghanaian constitution and found one line nobody was acting on — that every Ghanaian, regardless of where they lived, had the right to vote. Not every Ghanaian in Ghana. Every Ghanaian. That single reading launched a 20-year fight that changed Ghanaian law, built Africa's answer to CNN, and created the only truly global diaspora organization on the continent. He made his way through Nigeria, Germany, and finally landed in Houston, Texas in 1985. He would go on to co-author ROPA — the Representation of the People Amendment Act — the law that gives Ghanaians abroad the right to vote in national elections. He would build DNT, Diaspora Network Television and lose nearly $1 million.
