Sub-Roman London, around 470 CE: Nick Horseman, Tan and Ryan each get one go at making the lords swear to Uther Pendragon, King Arthur's father. Nick Horseman is back for another Death Wish Speed Run, with a twist this time: a single six-sided die decides how many lords the player has to bring over to Uther Pendragon's side before the feast falls apart. Nick, Tan and Ryan take turns at the same mission, each walking into the hall as a nobody. The Game Master is on hard mode, the benches are full of armed men who have been drinking since the rain started, and Merlin is somewhere in the smoke. Uther Pendragon belongs to the foggiest stretch of British history, the sub-Roman period after the Romans stopped defending Britain around 410 CE, with Saxon settlers carving out the east. Gildas, the nearest thing to a contemporary chronicler, never mentions a Pendragon at all. The legend of Uther's feast in London, his eye on Igraine and the Duke of Cornwall storming out comes from Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae of around 1136, and leads to Tintagel and the conception of King Arthur. History needed a statesman in that hall and got three people from the 21st century and a die.
