Global Funk & Soul Mix at a NYC Wine Bar | YAO | 7788 x TWU Summer Pop-up

七七八八 (7788) and That's What's Up teamed up in August for an afternoon of good bites and good vibes at Lise & Vito wine bar in Greenpoint, NYC. Chef Gigi of 7788 served up delectable small plates of Canto-American fusion while TWU curated a groovy program of DJs spanning Pop, R&B, Jazz House, Funk, and Disco. Recorded and edited by Open House. YAO was among the ranks of student party organizers, hosting and performing at bars and venues in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Though an avid house head, YAO frequently ventures beyond four-on-the-floor, never conforming to a singular genre. YAO founded Open House with the goal of returning music to its most essential function—bringing people together. He has hosted events and house parties across Chicago and New York City, focusing on intimate gatherings and stripping away the commercial barriers for up-and-coming talents who offer energetic and unique perspectives.
