Sekrenyi Festival: Angami Naga tribe celebrated at Naga Heritage Village in Kisama | Cultural shows.

The Sekrenyi Festival, the premier celebration of the Angami Naga tribe, is being celebrated at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, near Kohima, Nagaland. Organized by the Angami Public Organization (APO), the festival will continue till February 26, with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the special guest. Also known as the Mini Hornbill Festival, Sekrenyi signifies purification and the sanctification of one's body, mind, and soul. It is a time for seeking blessings for a long and healthy life, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual values of the Angami community. The festival features a rich showcase of Angami culture and traditions. On February 25, attendees experienced traditional indigenous games such as war cry, tati pfe, folk songs, phrida, traditional fire-making, tholi, and wooden top spin competitions. On February 26, the celebrations will include Naga wrestling for under-12 and under-15 participants, a tug-of-war competition, and a grand festival feast.
