Welcome to Data to Intelligence! 🚀
In this episode, we will learn Number Filters in Power Query step by step using practical, real-world examples.
🎬 Download dataset :- https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Numeric data is everywhere in analytics—Sales, Revenue, Profit, Quantity, Target, Actual, Percentage, Score, Population, Growth Rate, Cost and many other measures.
Power Query provides powerful number-filtering options that allow us to keep only the records we actually need before the data reaches our Power BI data model.
🎯 Episode 18: Power Query Number Filters – Filter Numeric Data
📚 What You Will Learn
In this practical lecture, we will cover:
✅ What are Number Filters in Power Query?
✅ How to filter a Number column
✅ Filter using Equals
✅ Filter using Does Not Equal
✅ Greater Than filter
✅ Greater Than or Equal To filter
✅ Less Than filter
✅ Less Than or Equal To filter
✅ Between filter
✅ Filtering multiple numeric values
✅ Filter positive and negative numbers
✅ Filter zero values
✅ Filter blank/null numeric values
✅ Filter error values
✅ Combine multiple numeric conditions
✅ Understanding AND vs OR
✅ Combining Number Filters with Text Filters
✅ Combining Number Filters with Date Filters
✅ Understanding the M code generated by Power Query
✅ Table.SelectRows() and numeric conditions
✅ Common mistakes while filtering numbers
✅ Practical exercises and real-world scenarios
🧑💻 Practical Examples
We will solve requirements such as:
🔹 Show Sales greater than ₹50,000
🔹 Show Sales greater than or equal to ₹1,00,000
🔹 Show Sales below ₹25,000
🔹 Show Sales between ₹50,000 and ₹1,50,000
🔹 Show Quantity greater than 10
🔹 Show Profit greater than 0
🔹 Find records with zero profit
🔹 Find records with negative profit
🔹 Exclude a particular numeric value
🔹 Filter blank numeric values
🔹 Combine multiple numeric conditions
Power Query Interface → Number Filter → Condition → M Code
⚠️ Important: Check the Data Type
Before applying numeric filters, make sure the column is actually a Number data type.
For example, these values may look numeric:
50000
75000
100000
but if they are stored as Text, numeric filtering may not behave as expected.
So the recommended workflow is:
Source → Check Data Type → Correct Data Type → Filter
🎯 Hands-On Practice
After watching this lecture, try creating the following filters:
1️⃣ Sales greater than ₹50,000
2️⃣ Sales greater than or equal to ₹1,00,000
3️⃣ Sales less than ₹25,000
4️⃣ Sales between ₹50,000 and ₹1,50,000
5️⃣ Quantity greater than 10
6️⃣ Profit greater than 0
7️⃣ Find negative-profit transactions
8️⃣ Find zero-profit transactions
9️⃣ Exclude Sales equal to ₹50,000
🔟 Combine Sales and Profit conditions
