MP Bike Trip - Khajuraho to Bhimkund

#Bhimkund, #MadhyaPradesh, #Khajuraho, #sudurerpiyasi On the way from Khajurao to Orchha, at a distance of around 90 km from Khajuraho, there is a hidden natural mystery of Madhya Pradesh 'Bhimkund' in the Chhatrapur district near Bajna. Bhimkund is a natural sinkhole with a deep water-filled basin known for its strangely clear blue water, unfathomable depth and mysterious ability to predict natural disasters (e.g. It's water-level rose by 15 feet before 2004 Tsunami). Bhimkund's story is linked to the Mahabharata where during Pandava's exile Bhima supposedly struck the earth with his mace to create water for thirsty Draupadi. No one has measured its true depth with rope or sonar due to strong under-water current. It is considered a holy place, with a small Shivling near the natural cave entrance. Among other special features, the kund has the peculiarity that books submerged in Bhimkund reportedly never float but sink or disappear.
