The Rebel Alliance called itself the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and that name quietly decided who was allowed to join it. Former Separatists fought under Rebel colors for twenty years, but the Confederacy itself never got through the door, and one Separatist general had to give up something far more valuable than his soldiers to walk in. This Star Wars documentary traces the whole argument, from the Republic training camp on Onderon where Saw Gerrera learned his trade, through the Separatist Council on Mustafar, all the way to a Confederacy warship carrying Rebel fleet command.
Along the way we look at what the Empire really did to worlds like Raxus and New Plympto, why Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis could never agree on a membership rule, and how General Horn Ambigene brought an entire holdout army into the Alliance and lost the one thing he could not replace. Canon and Legends both get their say here, from Andor and The Bad Batch to the Legends comics and sourcebooks that filled in what the screen never showed. If you want the real reason the Rebellion could forgive a Separatist past but never a Separatist future, this is the full story.
