Every Major Region on Earth, and What They Actually Believe

Every Major Region on Earth, and What They Actually Believe Across thousands of years and thousands of miles, human societies have developed remarkably different ways of understanding existence. Where did we come from? What happens after death? What makes an action right or wrong? From the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia to Indigenous traditions of the Americas, from African ancestral traditions to the Abrahamic religions of the Middle East, from the Dharmic traditions of South Asia to the layered spiritual traditions of East Asia and Aboriginal Australia, this documentary explores how different cultures have answered humanity's biggest questions. We look at: • Ancient flood stories from Mesopotamia, the Americas, and China • African traditions and the relationship between creator gods, ancestors, and community • Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and their shared historical roots • Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism and ideas surrounding karma, rebirth, and liberation • Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, and ancestor traditions in East Asia • Indigenous American traditions and relationships between humans, nature, and the spiritual world • Aboriginal Australian traditions and the concept commonly translated as the Dreaming • Why similar myths and ideas appear in cultures separated by enormous distances • The debate between cultural diffusion and independent human development • Joseph Campbell's ideas about recurring patterns in mythology • Why completely different societies may still ask the same fundamental questions This is not an attempt to decide which tradition is right or wrong. It is an exploration of what people have believed, why those beliefs developed, and what they reveal about the human search for meaning. Different environments. Different histories. Different civilizations. But underneath them all, remarkably similar questions. Ink & Pen Explainer explores history, humanity, culture, science, and the hidden ideas that shaped our world.
