Keeping calm when parenting gets hard: Brain-informed tools for regulation and connection with Dr Gisele Dias (UK) & Dr Liory Fern-Pollak (UK). In this practical, brain-informed session, Pint of Parenting co-founders Dr Liory Fern-Pollak and Dr Gisele Dias explore what calm parenting can look like when stress rises and it becomes harder for both adults and children to pause, listen and respond as intended. Drawing on psychology, educational neuroscience and parenting practice, they examine how co-regulation, connection and calm limit-setting can support children’s developing self-regulation. The session offers simple tools to help parents create more calm in difficult moments, including pausing before reacting, using fewer words, maintaining boundaries with warmth, and repairing after conflict. The focus is on building the capacity to regulate, reconnect and try again. 'Pint of Parenting' website: https://www.parentingwithbrainandheart.com... Important Health and Wellbeing Notice International Relaxation Day presentations are provided for general education and wellbeing purposes only. They do not constitute medical, psychological or other professional healthcare advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please consider whether any relaxation, meditation or mindfulness technique is appropriate for you. Some techniques may lower blood pressure or heart rate. If you have low blood pressure, experience dizziness or fainting, have a physical or mental health condition, are pregnant, or are receiving treatment or medication, consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before taking part. Participation is voluntary: remain within your personal comfort and physical limits, and do not force your breathing, posture or attention. Practise only in a safe setting and never while driving, operating machinery or undertaking an activity requiring your full attention. Afterwards, allow yourself time to become fully alert. If seated or lying down, sit upright first and then stand up slowly and carefully. Stop if you experience pain, dizziness, faintness, breathlessness, distress or any other adverse reaction, and seek appropriate professional advice or assistance where necessary.
