Måneskin: The Italian Sensation Taking Over the World Maneskin is an Italian band that is captivating the entire world with their music. The quartet, consisting of Damiano, Ethan, Thomas, and Victoria, has traveled from the streets of Rome to X-Factor and then emerged victorious at the Sanremo Festival and Eurovision. In just over a year, the group has covered miles, garnering success after success worldwide. Eccentric, provocative, and rock-infused, their songs are climbing charts globally. In 2023, they are set to embark on their first global tour with dates in Asia, South America, North America, and Europe. A groundbreaking band, they were the first Italian artists to win an award at the MTV Video Music Awards. The Birth of Maneskin Formed in 2016 when the members were teenagers, the band initially comprised bassist Victoria De Angelis and guitarist Thomas Raggi, schoolmates who later welcomed frontman Damiano after initially dismissing him as lacking charisma. Through a Facebook announcement, drummer Ethan joined the group. The name "Maneskin" is Danish, originating from Victoria's mother, and translates to "Moonlight." They first used this name in 2016 when they won the Pulse - High School Band Contest. Initially known as street musicians in the capital, Rome, the group had their first official concert in Faenza in 2016 during the Independent Labels Meeting. Meet the Members Frontman Damiano David, born in 1999 in Rome, left classical high school in 2014 to fully dedicate himself to music. Sporting an extravagant style he calls "fashion gipsy," he started his musical journey within the band and is in a relationship with influencer Giorgia Soleri, to whom he dedicated the song "Coraline." Bassist Victoria De Angelis, born in April 2000, is also from Rome. Of Danish descent, she proposed the band's name and started playing the guitar at 8 before transitioning to the bass. Thomas Raggi, born in January 2001, met Victoria at the Kennedy Scientific High School, where they conceived the idea of forming a band. Studying music since childhood, he played classical and electric guitar, joining a group at the age of 12. Drummer Ethan, born in October 2000, inherited a passion for film sets and music from his filmmaker father. Recognizable by his long dark hair and a look reminiscent of Native Americans. From X-Factor to Eurovision After a year-long journey, Maneskin participated in the 2017 edition of X-Factor, securing the second spot under the guidance of judge Manuel Agnelli. During this time, their EP "Chosen" was certified double platinum by FIMI. In 2018, the band made guest appearances on TV shows and achieved platinum status for their second single, "Morirò da re." Awards followed, along with collaborations such as opening for Imagine Dragons in Milan. In September 2018, "Torna a casa" became their first single to top FIMI's Top Singles chart. Their debut studio album, "Il ballo della vita," was presented with a documentary, "This is Maneskin," followed by a sold-out European tour. They triumphed at the 2021 Sanremo Festival with "Zitti e buoni," earning a place in the Eurovision Song Contest. Simultaneously, "Teatri d’ira - Vol.I" was released. Maneskin dominated Eurovision in Rotterdam, becoming the third Italian winner. Their version of "Beggin" reached the top of Spotify's global chart, entering the Billboard Hot 100 at 78 and later peaking at 13. Success in the USA and Worldwide Tour The latter part of 2021 saw Maneskin captivating the United States, with appearances on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show and Ellen DeGeneres, culminating in opening for the Rolling Stones. In March, they announced the "Loud Kids Get Louder" world tour, including Coachella. The band performed at major European festivals and recorded a version of Elvis Presley's "If I Can Dream" for Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" biopic. In August, "I wanna be your slave" won Best Alternative Video at the MTV Video Music Awards. "The Loneliest" became the most-played song worldwide on Spotify in its first week, with over 1.2 million YouTube views in 24 hours. The song precedes the release of Maneskin's third album, "Rush!," scheduled for January 20, 2023. Notable facts about the band include Damiano's birthday on January 8, sharing it with the rock and roll icon Elvis Presley, and Marlena, frequently mentioned in their songs, representing their muse embodying freedom, art, and the essence of all they stand for. #Maneskin #DamianoDavid #GossipUpdate
