Congress Rajghat Rally: Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka & Kharge Lead Massive March | Delhi Ground Report

A massive Congress rally from Connaught Place to Rajghat in Delhi saw a large gathering of party workers, supporters and leaders, with drums, slogans and a show of strength on the streets. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, Pramod Tiwari and several other Congress leaders and MPs were present during the rally. The main demand raised by Congress workers was the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, amid the wider political debate over the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. But during our ground report, we also spoke to some young participants who appeared to have different or unclear reasons for joining the rally. Some students in Classes 11 and 12 could not clearly explain which issue or leader they were supporting when questioned by our reporters. Some young participants spoke about “Azaadi”, but when asked what they wanted freedom from and what specific issue they were referring to, their answers varied. At another point, some protesters also made statements about opposing the BJP and stopping traffic if the rally passed near the BJP office.
