Agriculture is at the heart of Tanzania’s economy, with smallholder farmers producing more than 90% of the country’s food. Yet many farming households, particularly those led by women, continue to face challenges accessing finance, managing climate risks, and connecting to markets.
To address these barriers, Prosper Global AgriFin and Vodacom Tanzania partnered to expand digital financial inclusion for smallholder farmers, women, and community-based savings groups.
Through digital platforms like M-Kulima and M-Koba, the partnership is helping farmers access financial services, invest in their livelihoods, and build greater resilience.
M-Kulima has reached approximately 40,000 farmers, including more than 22,000 women, and engaged over 220 Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies, connecting farmers to digital loans and payment services.
M-Koba has onboarded more than 65,000 women, helping savings groups digitise their finances, strengthen transparency and accountability, and access savings and credit to support farming households and rural businesses.
Discover how digital financial solutions are helping women farmers and rural communities in Tanzania strengthen their financial resilience and build more secure livelihoods.
