Our journey toward Alaska and the Arctic Ocean continues through one of the most spectacular sections of our entire Canadian road trip — the incredible Icefields Parkway. After leaving the Banff area, we headed north toward Jasper, surrounded by the magnificent Canadian Rockies. One of our first major highlights was Peyto Lake. We hiked up to see this famous turquoise glacier-fed lake, and the view was absolutely incredible. Peyto Lake turned out to be one of those places that photographs simply cannot do justice. From there, we continued along the Icefields Parkway, stopping to explore beautiful canyons, waterfalls and viewpoints along the way. Then came another highlight — the Athabasca Glacier, part of the Columbia Icefield. Standing in front of this enormous glacier surrounded by the Rocky Mountains was an unforgettable experience. But the road itself was just as memorable as the destinations. Driving the Icefields Parkway toward Jasper, with mountains, glaciers, lakes and waterfalls appearing around almost every corner, made us understand why this route is considered one of the world's great scenic drives. And Canada had another surprise waiting for us.. 🐻 We spotted TWO black bears along the way! Eventually we reached Jasper, found our campsite, prepared dinner and settled into our trailer after another incredible day on the road. And remember — Jasper is still only one part of this adventure. We are driving all the way through Canada to Alaska, and eventually north to Tuktoyaktuk and the Arctic Ocean.
