CZIFFRA plays MENDELSSOHN

Mendelssohn originally intended this as an Etude but then added the lovely Andante to the Rondo capriccioso to become the popular piece we know today. Cziffra plays the Andante with an expressive cantabile tone and brings out its wistful mood before launching into the Rondo with his inspired light fingered elfin style dexterity. This studio recording dates from the late 1960s when Cziffra's star dazzled the world's concert halls.
