Causing a Dog's Death

The plaintiff lost her precious dog to a heart attack after the defendant's unleashed pit bull attacked him, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant felt horrible about the attack, but the plaintiff's dog was 16 years old and suffering from liver cancer when it happened.
