The Jogeshwari Cave Temple, commonly known as the Jogeshwari Caves, is one of Mumbai’s most fascinating ancient heritage sites. Located in Jogeshwari East, in the middle of a densely populated modern suburb, this ancient rock-cut temple provides a remarkable contrast between Mumbai’s fast-paced urban life and its very old religious and architectural heritage. The caves are associated with Goddess Jogeshwari (Yogeshwari) as well as Lord Shiva, and the complex contains several Hindu sculptures and shrines.
