✨ Innovation shaping the SRL East Project! The first structural pour of calcined clay concrete has been successfully completed for the Glen Waverley water treatment plant slab and walls, marking an important milestone in the use of lower-carbon construction materials on major transport infrastructure. Developed in collaboration with Boral, the innovative concrete mix replaces a portion of traditional cement with calcined kaolinite clay, reducing the embodied carbon of the concrete while maintaining the performance required for structural applications. This milestone is the first use of calcined clay concrete in a structural application on Victorian transport infrastructure, building on previous project trials that were limited to non-structural elements. By embracing innovative construction methods and more sustainable materials, we're helping deliver the next generation of infrastructure while reducing its environmental footprint. Webuild, as part of the Terra Verde Joint Venture, is delivering almost 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between the future Box Hill and Glen Waverley stations, along with 39 cross passages, two station boxes, two TBM launch sites, and an intervention and ventilation shaft for the Suburban Rail Loop East Project. #SuburbanRailLoop #SRLEast #CalcinedClayConcrete #SustainableConstruction #LowCarbonConcrete #InfrastructureInnovation #ConstructionIndustry #CivilConstruction #MajorProjects #MelbourneConstruction #TransportInfrastructure #ConcreteInnovation #Engineering #Sustainability #Webuild
