VÖLUSPÁ – RAGNARÖK
The world approaches its end.
The bonds are broken, the old order collapses, and the powers held at the edges of the cosmos are released. Jörmungandr rises from the sea, the waters rage, the sky is torn by fire and storm, and the gods go forth to meet their fate.
Thor confronts the World Serpent in their final battle. He will strike Jörmungandr down, but after taking only nine steps, he too will fall, overcome by the serpent’s venom. Around them, Ragnarök consumes the world of gods and men.
Yet in the Völuspá, destruction is not the final word. Beyond fire, death and the sinking earth, the seeress already perceives another world rising green from the sea.
This musical interpretation uses the original Old Norse text of the Völuspá, preserving its archaic language and incantatory character. The music seeks not to recreate a historical performance, but to open a contemporary ritual space around the ancient poem — through deep bass, tribal percussion, Nordic textures and hypnotic repetition.
