These wild horses call the badlands of North Dakota home. Most of the day they stay high on the clay bluffs, where the wind keeps the flies away. Around sunset, they make their way down the steep buttes and head for water.
I swear, these horses are part mountain goat—the way they navigate those cliffs is incredible!
Marty, the band stallion, was the last one down. I have no idea what he was doing or how he got left behind, but he sure made up time. He caught up with the band and then took the lead, guiding everyone to water.
There’s something special about watching these wild horses follow the rhythm of the land—and the one who created it.
