In this episode of my series “Walks in Dorset”, I take a 6 mile circular walk between the villages of Maiden Newton & Cattistock. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan. I parked my car at the “free” “Walkers” Car Park to the West of the Maiden Newton and started off with a wander through the village, crossing over the River Hooke & River Frome, walking along Dorchester Street and Church Street. After visiting the Church of St Mary, I followed The Frome Valley Trail (and Wessex Ridgeway), Northwards under the old railway line and close to the River Frome up to the tiny hamlet of Chilfrome – where I visited the Church of Holy Trinity. I continued my journey, picking up a section of the Macmillan Way over St Helens Bridge and on to the village of Cattistock. At this point, I took a footpath North East past Castle Hill and around to Middle Hill where there were some amazing views to enjoy. My homeward leg took me around Coombe Bottom and past New Barn to rejoin the Wessex Ridgeway back to Maiden Newton. My final destination was The Chalk & Cheese pub in Maiden Newton. NB: Please accept my apologies for the number of times (15!) that I said "I think" in the first 10 minutes or so of the video. I accidently had left some of my notes at home and so I was trying to rely on my memory! There were also a few instances in the walk where I was filming in a very exposed location on what was a fairly blustery day and as a result the wind noise did affect the audio. I hope that this does not spoil your enjoyment of the video.
