Santiago Flash Floods: Shocking Aerial Footage Shows Flash Flood Destruction | N18G

Flash floods struck eastern Santiago, Chile, on Thursday, October 8, following heavy rainfall that sent torrents of water, mud, and rocks through the Las Condes district in the Andean foothills. The flooding swept away cars and public buses, damaged vehicles, and inundated homes, clinics, and schools. Streets were left covered with mud, rocks, and debris as an overflowing river burst its banks. Chile’s disaster agency, Senapred, attributed the flooding to intense rainfall that rapidly filled normally dry mountain ravines and creeks. Residents described the incident as sudden and frightening, with one local resident reporting an unusually loud noise before discovering the overflowing river. Firefighters searched flooded streets, inspected damaged vehicles, and assisted with response efforts, while heavy machinery cleared debris. Aerial footage released by Chilean police showed the extent of the flooding across residential areas. Authorities had not officially confirmed any deaths or injuries, and the full extent of property damage remained undetermined. #SantiagoFloods #ChileFloods #FlashFloods #SantiagoChile #FloodDisaster #ChileNews #Flooding #ExtremeWeather #BreakingNews #AerialFootage #NaturalDisaster #HeavyRain #WeatherNews #FloodFootage #WorldNews Moneycontrol is India’s leading financial portal, offering market news, expert analysis, and powerful tools.
