Ms. Xia reads Sergei Yesenin's little poem The Birch (1913) stanza by stanza, in a new Chinese translation made from the Russian original (not the textbook's translation): the birch puts on snow like a cloak of silver; its branches get an edging of snow and a white fringe of tassels; in the drowsy stillness the snowflakes light up like golden fire; and the lazy dawn glow strolls round the tree scattering new silver.
