Celebrating Hagley Hall’s return to steam on the Severn Valley Railway

On 9th September, the SVR’s flagship locomotive – 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’ – hauled its first passenger service in 36 years following a £1.4million overhaul. After the ceremony and nameplate unveiling, over 100 guests climbed aboard the train for the inaugural journey. The SVR is incredibly grateful to everyone who made a donation or left a legacy to support the extensive overhaul through the Charitable Trust, the tireless fundraising of the Friends of Hagley Hall, the National Lottery Heritage Fund for awarding a substantial grant, and all the volunteers and staff who worked on the locomotive over the years to make this dream moment finally happen. The film will soon be on display as part of a stand dedicated to ‘Hagley Hall’ at the Engine House.
