印象深刻的一段訪問，是陳弘耀夫人Amigo 輕聲提到：因為雜誌停刊，《一刀傳》的連載被迫中斷，陳弘耀也在那一刻失業了。 陳弘耀從小便著迷於迪士尼，曾懷抱製作動畫的夢想。當他逐漸理解，那是一個難以憑一己之力完成的產業後，便將心力轉向漫畫。國中之後，他幾乎把所有時間都投注在繪畫技法的磨練上，也開始自學電影分鏡，學著用畫面說故事。後來，他陸續有了《大西遊》與《一刀傳》的連載，在創作中慢慢走出屬於自己的風格與位置。 連載停刊之後的日子，插畫或展場設計或許是更容易維持生計的工作，但對一個一心只想用圖畫說故事的人而言，終究只是另一條不得不走的路。 他高中時期初篇漫畫作品《末日》，最後一頁是從外太空俯瞰地球。在他心中的大宇宙裡，其實還有許多故事，來不及說完，或始終找不到一個真正可以安放的舞台。 《藝術很有事》透過訪問親人與舊友，爬梳他一路走來的創作脈絡與其中的用心與深情。謹以此集，深深記念這位將一生心力傾注於漫畫、始終溫柔守護創作夢想的漫畫家——陳弘耀老師。 【Revisit Chen Hong-Yao's Yi-Dao Legend】 In one memorable interview, Chen Hong-Yao’s wife, Amigo, softly recalled a painful turning point: when the magazine went out of business, the serialization of Yi-Dao Legend was abruptly cut short, and Chen Hong-Yao found himself unemployed overnight. Captivated by Disney since childhood, Chen Hong-Yao originally dreamed of making animations. However, as he grew to realize that animation was an industry nearly impossible to conquer alone, he pivoted his passion toward comic arts. From junior high school onward, he poured almost every waking hour into honing his drawing techniques and teaching himself cinematic storyboarding—learning how to tell stories through visuals. Over time, he launched serialized works like "Ouch! Big West (大西遊)" and "Yi-Dao Legend (一刀傳)", gradually carving out his own unique style and place in the world of comic art. In the days following the cancellation of his serials, taking on illustrations or exhibition design might have been more practical ways to make a living. Yet, for a man whose sole desire was to tell stories through pictures, these ventures were ultimately just detour paths he was forced to take. In his very first high school comic creation, "Doomsday (末日)", the final page depicts a view looking down at Earth from outer space. Within the vast universe of his mind, there were actually countless more stories waiting to be told—stories that ran out of time, or simply never found the stage they truly deserved. Through intimate interviews with his family and old friends, "Inside the Arts" retraces Chen Hong-Yao's creative journey, uncovering the profound dedication and deep affection woven into his work.
