100-year-old Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is getting a makeover

They say the airport is the front door to your city — it’s the first impression people get. And if that’s the case, then for too long, Cleveland’s front door has been old, rickety, missing a hinge, and covered in cobwebs. Think: broken porch light, holes in the screen, and last Halloween’s pumpkins still sitting outside. You get the idea. If you think that sounds harsh, don’t take our word for it — just refer to the many studies confirming that Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is falling short. Most recently, the airport finished dead last in JD Power’s annual survey of medium-sized airports, trailing behind Buffalo, Columbus, and yes, Pittsburgh. So, what makes our current airport experience so uniquely bad? Reviewers say the parking stinks. It’s cramped, dated, and overwhelmingly beige. And some say they’ve stayed at campgrounds with cleaner bathrooms. TSA lines? Notoriously long and slow-moving — but hey, at least they’re thorough.
