*Craig Cameron coaching Jorden Halvorsen in an English saddle.* Seven minutes, with her horse Jessie.
*Who is riding.* She grew up in hunter jumper from six years old, **then rode bulls**, then came to western -- and she is wearing a bull riding buckle, which Craig spots and asks about. Asked whether she learned anything from Dale Brisby: "you know, not at all."
The English work helps the seat, and "to me, it's all knowledge -- horsemanship is just an ongoing, lifetime learning experience." Then: *"you get good not by working on the horse, but by working on yourself. When we get good, they get good."*
*Position.* The bend in her knee, without which there is no balance. Heels down, so the weight travels to the ground rather than pressing. Hands up and forward, what he calls *in the box.* He notices her bit -- a big D-ring snaffle, almost a full cheek -- and says it makes it easy for the horse to follow. And he reads her diagonal out loud for the audience: *a posting trot on the right diagonal means coming up with the right front and the left rear on a two-beat gait.*
*Then the correction.* She leans to the inside. He wants her weight to the outside*. His reasoning: **lean in, and the horse is heavy on the inside, which makes it harder for him to pick up the left lead.* He says "lean to the outside" and "get your weight out there" over and over through the last three minutes, adds a left hand up and a right hand down, and then names the result: *"That time he never did drop to a trot. He wasn't heavy on the inside. And it's those little things that make such a big difference."*
*He also says:* "we think we're a fly on their back, but we're not." And "we're not jumping yet -- we're just riding."
*He tells her:* "you're a really good rider. You sit good, you ride good, you're comfortable, you're fearless. *So now it's just technique, technique, technique.**" And the question he leaves her with: **"What happened before it happened? That made it good or made it bad?"*
She says at the end that weight to the outside is something she had already been working on.
**He closes by thanking Dale Brisby and Cory Anderson and Total Feeds by name**, for what they do "for so many people and so many horses around the world."
