What If Harry Proposed to Hermione Before the Battle of Hogwarts? Harry asks Hermione to marry him on a beach in Cornwall on April 9th, 1998. He doesn't know yet that he's a Horcrux. Twenty-three days later he finds out, in a Pensieve, at three in the morning, with the castle burning underneath him — and the promise he made in good faith becomes a promise he can't keep. In the timeline you know, he walks down that staircase and tells nobody. In this one, somebody is standing at the bottom of it.
