Inside the Festival: Talk Vol 2_11 Jonny Cake | Discover Music Channel (Discover Music Channel)

Bahamian artist Jonny Cake Dread breaks down his evolution from local hip-hop and parody tracks to becoming a leading voice in rake and scrape. Drawing from his frontline experience as both a recording artist and a commercial radio personality, he unpacks the mechanics behind getting Bahamian music heard locally and abroad. The conversation covers the structural realities of the music business: why promotion and street-level buzz must precede radio play, how metadata and publishing protect independent creators, and how to properly approach club and radio DJs. Jonny Cake also dives into intentional brand architecture—from color theory and stage presence to safeguarding artist likeness against AI misuse—and explores why indigenous Caribbean rhythms resonate with international audiences from Miami to Ghana.
