Why NBA Legends Say Vince Carter Was the Most Gifted Player Ever

On May 20, 2001, Vince Carter sat in a cap and gown at his UNC graduation, walked out to a private jet, and played Game 7 five hours later. He shot 6 for 18. The Raptors lost by one. People argued about that for twenty five years. What nobody argued about was the talent. Michael Jordan said it. Dominique said it. KG said his favorite All-Star moment was not his own, it was Vince's dunk contest. Byron Scott coached Kobe every day and still named two players more gifted. Kobe's own coach put Vince at number one on his list of greatest dunkers ever. Ahead of Dr. J. Ahead of everybody. And the seven-foot-two French center who got jumped over in Sydney? He said he learned people can fly. Fifteen voices. One answer they all kept circling back to.
