Baker’s Bend is one of the many amazing viewpoints in the hill country in Sri Lanka. This is a horse-shaped bend inside the Nonpareil Estate on the route to the Nagarak Bungalow. The Nonpareil Estate had been managed by William Baker during the time of British rule. It is said that once his horse slipped and fell off at this bend killing the horse and injuring him. This bend can be reached by travelling 11 km on a rough estate road with sharp bends every few hundred meters. within this 11 km, you will climb over 900 meters. Even though this is a private estate road, it is still possible to travel on this road. At 1530 meters (5000 feet) this viewpoint provides panoramic views towards Balathuduwa, Gommolikanda, Adarakanda mountain range to the left and Samanala and Udawalawe reservoirs to the right on a clear day.
