Garrocha - Horse World Expo MD 2012

Julio Mendoza performs with Xairel, a 9 Year old Lusitano gelding, owned by Jeanne Belcher of York, PA. Centuries ago the Garrocha was used as a weapon during wars. The garrocha pole is used in Spain by the vaqueros (cowboys) to move cattle around rather than roping. This form or working cattle is from where the term cow poke originates. The art of working with the garrocha pole, about 12 feet in length, has been developed into an artistic skillful performance! Enjoy as Julio and Xairel perform traditional Garrocha techniques ~ For more info visit: www.mendozadressage.com
