The Philips D2935 Shortwave radio

Here's a quick look at a fairly hard to get radio but a worthwhile radio non the less, the Philips D2935. Despite it's single bandwidth this radio is an excellent performer with very good audio. They were bought out to compete with the Sony ICF-2001 and the equivalent Panasonic of the day but they lacked the "bells and whistles" that the Sony had and as a result had limited commercial success. They were somewhat overshadowed by the big brother as well, the Philips D2999. Most examples of this radio now suffer from serious deterioration of the front membrane which results in unsightly cracking, fading and disintegration. Luckily a reproduction membrane can be sourced and while a bit tricky to fix in position, makes the radio look original. Unfortunately the replacement membrane is somewhat thicker than the original making button pressing much harder but this is adequately compensated by a much better looking radio. Worth getting hold of if this radio comes your way. Hope you enjoy. Cheers........ Phil
