U MANIK RAITONG : Flute In Flame

ABOUT THE SONG: Raitong: Flute In Flame The ancient Khasi legend of U Manik Raitong reborn as a dreamy disco anthem. An orphan in ash, a queen who heard his flute, a baby who chose his father with a laugh, and a love that chose fire over separation. Flute meets 80s synth, tradition meets dance floor. This is love that never dies, still playing in wind, in hills. LYRICS Raitong: Flute In Flame In ash he walked, Raitong was his name No clan, no home, orphan in the rain One flute in hand, one tune so sad A sound that woke the queen so mad Syiem was gone, two winters long Lieng Makaw heard his lonely song She followed moonlight down the shyngiar way Found a man in rags where shadows lay But when he played, he was a king And love began where flute would sing Oh Manik, you played with bleeding hands Loved the queen of these hills and lands One night of love, one child born One truth that brought the kingdom's scorn The baby cried, the hima turned The Syiem returned, his anger burned Bring every man, banana in hand The child will show his father in this land One by one, the child looked away Till ash-man came at end of day And baby laughed, reached with glee My son, he said, this son belongs to me Dorbar roared, such filthy wretch How could queen love such a speck? Sentence passed, burn him in fire For loving higher than his pyre He asked for water, dressed in white No more ash, a prince in light He walked around the fire so slow Playing flute for last time low He planted flute into the ground Where love will grow without a sound Lieng broke the door, ran through the hill Heard his flute, so soft, so still Threw her shawl, no second thought Jumped in fire where love was caught Two souls burned, one love, one name U Manik Raitong, flute in flame] Oh Manik, you played with bleeding hands Loved the queen of these hills and lands... Raitong, still playing In wind, in hills...
