Genesis Study: What EARTH Was Create in Genesis 1:1? - Part 1

In this lesson we lay a biblical foundation for the consideration that the Genesis account is in reference to God’s covenant kingdom people, who were called “heavens and earth” throughout the rest of the Hebrew Scripture. If a people called “heavens and earth” were given a written record of the beginning of “the” heavens and “the” earth, then it is reasonable to consider that the book of Genesis is focused on the Genesis of that people. We make it very clear that the Bible defends the truth that the God of Abraham is the Creator of all things within our material world, because the Bible records God demonstrating His authority over the natural elements within the physical creation. However, we believe this study will show that the Creator of the material heavens and earth, then called out a people willing to serve Him to be His own possession, and called those people “heavens and earth.” Genesis is the Genesis of that beautiful story!
