Journey 01 Day 09 | Ranwu to Nyingchi | Rainy Crossing of Sejila Pass

Day 9 reveals a completely different side of Tibet. Leaving Ranwu (然乌, Ránwū) behind, today's ride follows the legendary G318 (国道318, Guódào 318) through misty forests, winding river valleys and rain-soaked mountain roads on the way to Nyingchi (林芝, Línzhī). Along the journey, we cross the historic Tongmai Bridge (通麦特大桥, Tōngmài Tèdàqiáo) before climbing to Sejila Pass (色季拉山口, Sèjìlā Shānkǒu) at 4,728 metres. On a clear day, the pass offers spectacular views of Namcha Barwa (南迦巴瓦峰, Nánjiābāwǎ Fēng), one of the most beautiful and elusive mountains in the Himalayas. Although the weather didn't cooperate this time, the rain and low clouds created an unforgettable atmosphere of their own. Today wasn't just about reaching Nyingchi. It was about experiencing the dramatic transformation from the rugged high plateau into the lush forests of eastern Tibet, proving that every day on the G318 has its own unique character.
