In this piano tutorial, we will learn how to play "Air on the G String" by J.S. Bach. Originally composed as the second movement of his Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major (BWV 1068), this piece has become one of the most beloved and recognizable works of the Baroque era. The famous title "Air on the G String" actually comes from a late 19th-century arrangement by German violinist August Wilhelmj, who transposed the original music so the entire main melody could be played on the lowest string of the violin. When adapted for the piano, this masterpiece stands out for its long, expressive melody that floats gracefully above a steady, descending "walking bass." It is a profound study in legato playing, voicing, and expressing deep, relaxing emotion through the keys.
