Mathematics Grade 12 Unit 1 Sequences and Series - Arithmetic Sequences

Hanna saves the same amount every month. How much will she have in December? This lesson answers that with one formula, aₙ = a₁ + (n − 1)d, and then uses it on every kind of arithmetic sequence question. This video covers Grade 12 Mathematics, Unit 1 (section 1.2, arithmetic sequences) of the Ethiopian curriculum. It is made for ESSLCE revision, with Amharic subtitles throughout. Subtitles in Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya and Somali are also available: turn on CC and choose your language. (የአማርኛ ንዑስ ጽሑፍ ተካትቷል። · Afaan Oromootiin: CC banaa. · ብትግርኛ: CC ክፈቱ። · Af-Soomaali: CC fur.) In this video: • What makes a sequence arithmetic: the common difference d (positive, negative or zero) • Finding terms step by step, and the recursive rule aₙ₊₁ = aₙ + d • The general term aₙ = a₁ + (n − 1)d, and why it is n − 1 • Hanna's savings: 130 birr, plus 80 birr a month, gives 1010 birr in December • Finding the general term from two known terms • Testing whether a general term is arithmetic: 3n − 2 and 3n² − 2 • Arithmetic means: 1, x, 8 and four means between 4 and 29 Chapters 0:00 Last time: Hanna's savings 0:37 The common difference 2:00 Reading an arithmetic sequence 3:25 The general term 4:34 Hanna's year 5:38 Using the formula 6:32 Two terms determine an arithmetic sequence 7:43 Is it arithmetic? 8:45 Arithmetic means 9:46 Summary and the next question Previous lesson (1.1 Sequences):    • Mathematics Grade 12 Unit 1 Sequences and ...   📘 Study notes and quiz for this unit: https://atenu.org/courses/grade-12-ma... 📢 Join our Telegram channel for more notes and updates: https://t.me/atenuChannel #ESSLCE #Grade12Maths #ArithmeticSequence #EthiopianStudents #Atenu About Atenu Foundation The Atenu Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere in Ethiopia.
