Marwell Zoo Surprised Me More Than Any Other UK Zoo

Marwell Zoo, in the south of England near Southampton, is certainly not one of the best-known zoos in the United Kingdom. Yet this sprawling, landscape-style zoo is full of surprises: huge, open enclosures for giraffes, zebras, antelopes and rhinos are combined here with modern animal care, exciting concepts and a number of unexpected highlights. On my journey through the best zoos in the UK, Marwell Zoo turned out to be by far the biggest positive surprise for me.
