Fooling around with Tactical builds in Crucible and testing the limits. Still not doing super serious runs as I'm still leveling, but you might find this one entertaining. So far, I've found 22/23 penances quite manageable. The "One Life" penance is bugged AGAIN after Hotfix 15.2, which basically makes it free take. They fixed the Relics not spawning for allies, but now they spawn for you, and not only that, you can actually use them lol. The only penance we aren't using is Cranial Focus: Damage against Majoris-level or higher enemies is reduced by 50%. Only headshots are effective. That one is brutal, but I think it's possible even with that modifier. You just need godlike aim and a lot of mind-numbing patience. I tried to pull off an A-rank run, but had no luck. I'm not sure if it's because I despawned too many enemies at checkpoints or because I despawned the Neurothrope by baiting the Carnifex down to the lower level. Sometimes the game lets you get away with despawning enemies at important checkpoints, but I guess I pushed it too far this time. Still, we managed to kill a reasonable number of enemies, take down a Carnifex, and finish the operation. The build I used revolves around double-primary Melta weapons. Since we can't use Gun Strikes, the secondary is pretty much useless, so we might as well take the Bolt Rifle. The Grenade Launcher would be nice, but with the friendly-fire penance, you can actually kill yourself with your own grenades. So I think the best option is the Combi-Melta. It has solid damage, decent ammo capacity, and an alternate Melta firing mode that recovers quite a lot of HP. For the first primary, we take the Melta. I think it's OP on Tactical with Battle Focus and a Heroic Block Chainsword, although the boss damage is lacking. Not that other weapons fare much better against bosses since the rework. Not much else to say about Tactical. Same old, same old: 3x blocks, shoot in between, then go full throttle and explode everything. Repeat. With all these penances, though, you need to play almost perfectly, since you can't recover from mistakes or game-breaking bugs. On top of that, the parry window is reduced by 50%, which is significant considering Block weapons already have a 50% reduction. That should leave you with a parry window of around 25% of the normal duration, or 150 ms, if I'm not mistaken. That's pretty rough.
