Flow State Bio — Episode 1
Israel Adesanya was never just another UFC prospect.
From his early life in Nigeria and New Zealand, to kickboxing in China, King in the Ring, GLORY, City Kickboxing, and eventually becoming a two-time UFC middleweight champion, “The Last Stylebender” built one of the most unique careers in modern MMA.
In this first episode of The Flow State Bios, I look back at Izzy’s full journey — his roots, his dancing and anime influence, his rapid UFC rise, the Kelvin Gastelum war, the Robert Whittaker championship moment, his rivalry with Alex Pereira, the setbacks that followed, and the legacy he has already built.
Izzy also became my favorite fighter of all time after I first discovered him on the UFC 221 prelims in 2018, so this one is personal.
What made Israel Adesanya special wasn’t only the wins.
It was the way he made MMA feel different.
The Last Stylebender.
