Petrol prices have surged to ₦1,430 per litre in Abuja as global oil market pressures intensify and Brent crude climbs above $108 per barrel. The worsening crisis around the Strait of Hormuz is tightening international crude supply and pressuring Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, with motorists and businesses facing higher fuel and operating costs. Local contractors gathered at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation in Abuja to protest unpaid debts for projects they say were completed from 2024. The contractors, under the All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria, say repeated assurances of payment have not resolved their concerns, with some businesses facing mounting debts after borrowing to finance government projects.
